It’s like finding a needle in a haystack, literally! Needle in a Haystack is a 3D puzzle game that’s based on the old idiom. And that needle truly is hard to find!

Dig your way through the giant haystack and use hot-cold hints to determine whether you’re close or far from your target. Can you find 10 needles fast enough to get your name on the leaderboard?

How to play Needle in a Haystack?

Walk up to the giant haystack and keep walking: you can tunnel your way through. Search for the metallic glint of a giant needle. Once you find it, click on it to collect it. You need to find 10 needles to complete the game. There’s no time limit, but the faster you are, the higher you’ll end up on the leaderboard.

There are two ways you can play the game, depending on how tough you want to make it for yourself: Normal Mode and Hardcore Mode. 

Normal Mode 

In this game mode, it’s daytime. You’ll receive hints that tell you how close you are. Freezing cold means you’re far away from where the needle is hidden, and scorching hot means you’re very close. 

The needle is made of metal, so when you get close enough, you should be able to spot it among the hay. Look for a little shimmer to guide you closer. It’s darker at the centre of the haystack, so you’ll have to search more carefully there.

Hardcore Mode

You don’t receive any hints in this version. It’s also dusk, and darker, with less light filtering through the hay. Luckily, further into the haystack, the tunnels you’ve dug remain visible, so you can more or less see where you’ve already looked. 

The merchant standing outside the haystack sells a leaf blower that can come in handy, but you’ll have to collect enough coins to buy it from him first!
